We offer a number of types of steel each with different properties to suit specific requirements.

M2 High Speed Steel

Our M2 flagship high speed steel woodturning tools are well known worldwide. The perfect tool for the hobbyist. The tools are hardened and tempered to 62/64 Rockwell. The traditional arts of hand grinding and hand forging are still used today, giving a beautifully funcational traditional tool. These tools come with a distinctive stained beech handle and gold ferrule.

M2 Cryogenic High Speed Steel

Using the same M2 high speed steel hardened and tempered with the added Cryogenic Treatment, these tools last approximately twice as long between sharpening. Perfect for those who want to spend their time turning not sharpening. Their stained black ash handles with silver ferrules are perfectly balanced. Twice the tool wear resistance but not twice the cost!

M42 Cryogenic ‘Razor Edge’ High Speed Steel

A cut above. The M42 steel reacts perfectly with the Cryogenic Treatment, giving a high performance tool with an unbeatable sharp edge.  Perfect for cutting tools such as Bowl Gouges. These tools are hardened and tempered and fitted with our ergonomically designed black ash handles, with a distinctive copper ferrule and mark.

Pro-PM High Speed Steel

This high grade steel is a Powder metal. Also call sintered steel, it is high tech in design from the onset, allowing a higher rockwell hardness of 68. These tools will last 4/5 times longer than a standard tool and are perfect for production turners or those who detest sharpening. Fitted with our beautiful black ash handles with gold coloured ferrules and mark.
